The budget-writers in the Massachusetts House of Representatives today released a $40.3 billion budget proposal for fiscal 2018, an increase in spending of 3.8 percent over the current year.

The House budget is slightly lower than the $40.5 billion budget proposed by Gov. Charlie Baker in January.

The budget does not include any broad-based tax increases.
