Boston-based Cogito Corp., an MIT-born company that puts artificial intelligence technology to work in call centers, has topped off its Series C funding round with $8 million, in part from new investors Hearst Ventures and Battery Ventures.

The new investment is in addition to the $37 million that Cogito raised in July. That portion of the Series C was led by the growth equity division of Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS).
